Strategic Directions

The NSW Procurement Board Strategic Directions Statement outlined the major actions implemented under the procurement reform program.

The Strategic Directions Statement had three objectives:

  • driving value for money
  • delivering quality government services
  • aligning with business needs.

To deliver on the objectives of procurement reform, seven strategic directions were identified in the Strategic Directions Statement:

  1. simplification and reducing red tape for suppliers and agencies
  2. engaging with industry
  3. innovating the approach to government procurement
  4. maximising opportunities for small and medium enterprises to supply to government
  5. providing for strategic and agile procurement practice
  6. establishing procurement category management across government
  7. supporting agencies’ procurement functions.
